A real online duck race, running entirely inside your browser. Give your ducks names, put them in whatever you like, and send up to 5 of them down the river. It is the same physics that decides a Pledglings fundraising race, and there is nothing to install, sign up for or pay.

What this demo leaves out
This page is the race and the wardrobe, and nothing else. It takes no money, keeps nothing about you, and carries no advertising:
- No donations. There is no way to give here, because there is nothing to give to.
- No sponsor banners. A real race can carry a local sponsor's artwork around the course. This one carries none.
- 5 ducks. A real race runs the whole field, hundreds of ducks if you sell that many.
- Nothing is saved. Your ducks live in this tab. Reload the page and they are gone.
It also runs on your device rather than ours, which is why there is no sign-up: your browser is doing the physics, a hundred steps a second, and the result never leaves this tab.
Running one for your charity
A Pledglings race is this course with a full field on it. Supporters adopt a duck, name it, dress it from the same wardrobe you just used, and watch it run on race day - in the hall on the big screen, or at home on a phone. Donations go straight to your charity's own Stripe account, and we take no percentage of what you raise.
Questions about online duck races
Is this online duck race really free?
Yes. This page costs nothing and asks for nothing. Running a real fundraising race costs £35, with no cut of what you raise.
How is the winner decided?
By the river. Every duck is a physical object pushed along by the current, bumping off the banks and each other, and the winner is whichever one crosses the line first. There is no draw behind the scenes - the race you watch is the result.
Why does a different duck win each time?
The ducks are scattered across the starting pool at random, and from there a few centimetres decides which side of a rock a duck goes. Race the same ducks twice and you will get two different results.
Do I need to install anything?
No. The simulation is compiled to WebAssembly and runs in any current browser, on a laptop or a phone. It is about 700KB, fetched once.
Can I run an online duck race with more than 5 ducks?
A real race can take hundreds. 5 is a limit on this demo page, not on the software - the course is the same one a full field races on.
